Notable Roles

PHOTO EDITOR - Julia was the Photo Editor of her school's yearbook, "Quatralog," during her freshman and sophomore years.

​

EDITOR-IN-CHIEF - Julia moved into the Editor-in-Chief position for her junior and senior years.

​

ONE SEVEN - During her junior year, she also participated in a youth leadership program at her church, Soma.

​

EDITOR POSITION - She was nominated to be the editor of her group's publication at The School of The New York Times during the summer leading up to her senior year.  

Recent Experiences

PERSONAL - Julia is currently attempting to watch what are considered the best movies of all time, according to a poster she got for Christmas. She also works as a host and to-go specialist at a sports restaurant in town. 

 

NCSMI - Julia attended the North Carolina Scholastic Media Institute every summer she was eligible to during her time in high school. She learned from the photojournalism, yearbook, and design divisions, winning camp awards each year.

CAROLINA SPORTS JOURNALISM CAMP - Julia was selected to attend the Carolina Sports Journalism Camp, where she wrote a story about Seth Trimble that was selected as a top story. 

​

AL NEUHARTH FREE SPIRIT AND JOURNALISM CONFERENCE - Julia was selected as the 2025 North Carolina representative for the Al Neuharth Free Spirit and Journalism Conference. She learned from journalists from notable newsrooms and toured the WSJ and USA Today offices, making friends she keeps in touch with today.

THE SCHOOL OF THE NEW YORK TIMES - Julia attended the School of The NYT in the summer of 2025. She participated in the Editing 101 course, where she worked with a group to create a Greenwich Village-based publication. She wrote her first opinion piece on live comedy at the Comedy Cellar and a feature story on an open mic at the historic Music Inn while serving as the publication's editor.

UNC CHAPEL HILL -  Julia recently committed to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she will study Media and Journalism. She was admitted to the Honors Carolina program and received assured enrollment in the UNC Hussman School of Journalism and Media.
